Water Wells
Water is easily found in the Amazon rainforest. It is everywhere! People swim in it, fish in it, canoe in it, bathe in it, throw trash in it and…………..drink it. The drinking water causes many of illnesses seen along the Amazon. Most of the people get their water directly from the Amazon River. The Water Well ministry’s focus is to provide clean drinking water, but more importantly, this ministry gives the opportunity to present the gospel to hundreds of new villagers along the Amazon River. Amazon Outreach has the potential of reaching literally thousands of Brazilians with this ministry.
We have a Brazilian team set in place with four drillers and one evangelist that travel on a small drilling boat equipped with all the necessary tools to drill and set a water well. The team is not only drilling water wells but also teaching basic hygiene and germ prevention. During the time the well team is drilling, the evangelist is sharing the gospel with the villagers. As people come and ask why we came thousands of miles to give them fresh water to drink we can answer them by saying the words of Jesus, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
