Mission Field "The Amazon"
The Amazon River is the second longest river in the world, and runs for approximately 3,900 miles long.
It runs through the South American countries of Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, and Brazil.
This river accounts for one-fifth of the fresh water that drains into the worlds oceans,
and enters the Atlantic ocean at an estimated nine to thirty million gallons per second.
The width of the river can range from one to six miles across at low stage and up to thirty miles across during high stage.
This high stage usually occurs during rainy season, which is from the months of January to June. |
